They also affect turf health, sightlines, play, safety and storm exposure. WTR takes a course-wide view of the canopy so owners and superintendents can make informed decisions about preservation, pruning and removal, with every assignment planned around play.
Year-round tree care
- Planned around play. Work is grouped by hole and coordinated with the superintendent around play, tournaments and course operations. Equipment routes are planned to protect greens, fairways, irrigation and cart paths.
- Preserve the character of the course. Preservation plans, structural pruning and plant health care protect signature, specimen and heritage trees.
- Risk assessed and prioritized. Deadwood, damaged limbs and declining trees near tees, greens, cart paths, gathering areas and the clubhouse are evaluated and addressed according to risk.

- Course inventory by hole. Priority trees are GPS-located and documented by hole, with condition, recommended action, photographs and completed work maintained in one usable record.
- Advanced tree diagnostics. Visual assessment comes first, with resistance drilling used when appropriate to provide additional information about internal wood condition.
- Acquisition and capital planning. Pre-acquisition assessments identify tree condition, immediate priorities and anticipated capital needs before ownership changes hands.
Grounds and storm
- Protect the course beyond the canopy. Bank stabilization and erosion control around lakes and bunkers, along with irrigation, drainage, cart paths and bridges, are coordinated as part of the property’s overall needs.
- Prepare before the storm. Priority tree risk is addressed before the season, with a dated condition baseline and a response plan for access, staging and documentation.
- Recover with one accountable team. After an event, WTR makes affected areas safe, restores access, records the loss and manages the work through closeout.

Portfolio information does not always show the condition, exposure and mitigation present at an individual property. WTR provides field data before a loss so underwriting and risk teams can evaluate what is actually on the site.
Before the policy
- Pre-loss condition baseline. Dated, GPS-located photographs and condition records establish the property record that future inspections and losses can be measured against.
- Tree risk and exposure assessment. Priority trees are evaluated in relation to condition, potential targets and consequences, with mitigation priorities documented for the file.
- Advanced tree diagnostics. Visual assessment comes first, with resistance drilling used when appropriate to provide additional information about internal wood condition.
- Tree and landscape valuation. Value is documented using the method agreed for the assignment when valuation is included in the engagement.
During the policy
- Mitigation that can be verified. Recommended pruning and removals are documented before and after completion so the property record reflects the work performed.
- Renewal inspections. The same property record is updated over time, giving risk teams a consistent view of condition and completed mitigation across participating locations.
When a loss happens
- Forensic loss documentation. Cause, condition and scope are documented in the field, with technical review of vegetation scope and pricing when included in the engagement. Each assignment identifies whether WTR is providing integrated assessment and remediation or a limited technical review. Coverage decisions remain with the carrier.

Palms, oaks and everything in between
- Palm trimming done right. Dead or declining fronds, seed pods and loose material are removed without over-pruning or stripping healthy green fronds.
- Oaks and shade trees. Live oaks, laurel oaks and other shade trees are selectively pruned for structure and appropriate clearance from roofs, driveways and pool enclosures while preserving their natural form.
- Removals performed carefully. Dead, declining or storm-damaged trees are dismantled in controlled sections when needed to protect the home, fence, landscaping and pool enclosure.
- Stump grinding and cleanup. Stumps are ground below the surface, with chips removed or retained for mulch according to the homeowner’s preference.
The little things
- Clear from the start. We walk the property with you, explain the recommended work, provide a written proposal and establish the expected schedule before work begins.
- Protect the whole property. Lawns, landscape beds, irrigation, pavers, driveways and screen enclosures are considered in the work plan.
- Cleanup you can see. Work areas are cleared, hard surfaces are blown clean and the completed job is reviewed before the crew leaves.
- Prepare before hurricane season. Trees are reviewed for deadwood, damaged limbs, weak structure and clearance concerns before the season. Response arrangements can be discussed before a storm is in the forecast.
